First Look: Jordan, Butler In “Miami Vice ’85”

Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures has shared a first look at Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in character for the Joseph Kosinski-directed “Miami Vice ’85”.

Two character one-sheets are out with the actors in character as Tubbs and Crockett respectively, marking the start of production on the feature film adaptation of the iconic TV series.

“Top Gun: Maverick” and “F1” helmer Kosinski directs from a screenplay by Dan Gilroy (“Nightcrawler”) that is said to be inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series, which Michael Mann produced and was hugely influential on the TV and cultural landscape.

The film will explore the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami as it follows two detectives who work undercover.

The packed supporting cast includes John Leguizamo, Walton Goggins, Alden Ehrenreich, André Holland, Edi Gathegi, Danny Ramirez, Whitney Peak, Michael Irby, Camila Morrone, and Andrew Schulz.

The shots come as Michael Mann premiered a new cut of the previous 2006 film adaptation of the property. Both the original and this new incarnation landed mixed reviews, with the new take coming to disc later this year.

“Miami Vice ’85” meanwhile is set to hit cinemas May 19th 2028.
