With the fourth season having recently wrapped and the fifth season currently in production, Amazon Prime Video’s “Reacher” series shows no signs of slowing down.
Thirty novels in the Lee Child-penned book series have been published so far with Book #1 “The Killing Floor” becoming the show’s first season, Book #11 “Bad Luck and Trouble” becoming the second season, Book #7 “Persuader” becoming the third, and Book #13 “Gone Tomorrow” becoming the fourth.
Book #9 “One Shot” and Book #18 “Never Go Back” became the two Tom Cruise films, while Book #20 “Make Me” will become the show’s fifth season.
Of the popular titles not yet adapted, the likes of “Worth Dying For,” “Tripwire,” “61 Hours,” “The Enemy,” and “The Hard Way” often make lists along with the 1998 second novel “Die Trying”.
It turns out that second book came close to being adapted. Responding to a fan on Threads, leading man Alan Ritchson was told by the fan that they were disappointed they haven’t adapted “the book where he kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp,” which refers to “Die Trying”.
Ritchson responded: “My favourite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.”
The book sees Jack Reacher and a politician’s daughter abducted by a radical militia who want to use her as leverage to secede from the United States.
Filming on the fifth season is expected to run through December ahead of a Fall 2027 debut.
